"Enchanted means love. Do you have enchanted in your heart?" - Garrett Friday we went camping with our friends. First we went to Pedernales Falls to see the waterfall and play in the river.
After, we went to Enchanted Rock where our campsite was. On Saturday we climbed said rock and explored a cave. Garrett choreographed this picture all by himself:
It was our first time camping with Carlie and she did fairly well. At the last minute, Nate decided to bring the Pack N Play and managed to fit it in the tent. Thank goodness! I had to lay down in the tent with her for a long time before she would settle down, but luckily the weather had cooled down and the stars were beautiful. I love camping, which is probably a good thing because in a few weeks, I'll be going with our young women on their annual week-long girls' camp. Nate's Mom will come out to help with the kids. It's going to be interesting.

How's everyone doing? I hope you enjoyed that last episode of Lost as much as I did. Nate and I started watching Lost from Day 1 and never missed an episode. It's been around almost as long as we've been married, so it has a soft spot in my heart. This past weekend we went to Houston fora birthday. Garrett had a blast playing with his cousins. We also got to go to the beach. We have actually never officially been to the beach with the kids. Never with Carlie, and Garrett only saw it when he was little and it was cold. That's how I like the beach, but I know that most people like the beach when it's hot and they can play in the water. Carlie was clearly under the firm belief that she would sprout a tail and join the party under the sea. We had to hold her back from walking too far out. She loved to stand where she could jump waves that were as tall as she was. This is my girl who barely dips a toe in the pool and cried all day at the sprinkler park. So we were surprised. Garrett had a great time too, jumping into waves, laying down on the surf board, and digging in the wet sand. The next day Garrett kept saying, "I miss yesterday!" Garrett has really gotten into Legos. He made this helicopter. And Carlie is still cute. Today we were sitting outside when one man called out "Hey!" to another man across the parking lot. Carlie looked around, stood up, and waved at the man, saying, "Hi!" She has also started screeching, which is not so pleasant. But today when I asked her to ask me nicely instead, she quietly babbled a question, so there's progress. Oh yes. And she's covered in hives again. My only guess this time is she was outside while Nate was mowing the grass. She wasn't in the grass, but it was in the air. Who knows? These allergies have been plaguing me for a year now. It's hard to decide which ranks most annoying - the Allergy Witch Hunt or the Endless Molluscum (Wart) Battle.

I realized this morning that Nate and I have been married with kids for about 6 months longer than we were married without kids. Happy Mother's Day! I hope everyone else is getting as spoiled as I am today. Also, I never properly followed up on Garrett's birthday, and I will probably check back here next year to see what we did. So, he had tasty waffles for breakfast, went to see Robin Hood at a childrens theater with friends, had a picnic at the park with all of his friends and their families, went to Kiddie Acres to ride the rides and play Putt-putt, ate dinner at Chilis, and got some great presents. I'm not too sad about 4 years old. But 5 sounds downright scary... And then Nate and I went to San Antonio for my birthday - a visit to the temple and then we rode all the crazy rides at Six Flags. So that was a lot of fun. Also, this past Friday was Nate's annual company Round Rock Express game, which is always great. This year was the first year we all stayed for fireworks. Garrett started getting nervous at the 7th inning. Carlie loved them.

I think the long-wondered question regarding Carlie and allergies may have been answered. Yesterday morning I pulled off her clothes and gave her a plate full of strawberries. By the time I pulled her out of her chair, I noticed hives appearing right where she was covered in strawberry juice. She had some Benadryl and looked better, but they came back this morning. Carlie has had strawberries before and loves them, but I guess we've overloaded her system. She has had a light rash on her neck and stomach for awhile that I've been trying to figure out. Also, Carlie's cousin also is allergic to strawberries, so again, things are making sense. I'm wondering if strawberries were the cause of her reactions to my breast milk as well. I don't know how well you can tell from this picture, so I'll make it big: The sad thing is that I had to take Garrett into the dermatologist, with a crazy hivey baby in tow. My kids and their skin! By the way, Garrett and I had great birthdays. He had a really busy day of fun things, but not so crazy that he had a meltdown this year. Then Nate and I went to San Antonio to go to Six Flags. We rode all the big rides and had a blast. So much, in fact, that I'm still exhausted! I might post a few pictures when I've regained my energy.
